Thomas Beresford was the son of John Beresford and Elizabeth Basset.2 He married Agnes Hassell, daughter of Robert Hassell.1 He died on 21 March 1473.1

Richard Power, 1st Earl of Tyrone was born in 1630.2 He was the son of John Power, 5th Baron le Power and Coroghmore and Ruth Pypho.1 He married, firstly, Lady Dorothy Annesley, daughter of Arthur Annesley, 1st Earl of Anglesey and Elizabeth Altham, in 1654.2 He married, secondly, Katherine FitzGerald, daughter of Sir John FitzGerald and Katherine Power, on 20 May 1673.2 He died on 14 October 1690 at Tower of London, The City, London, EnglandG, as a prisoner.1
He held the office of Governor of Waterford City and County Waterford in 1661.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Waterford [Ireland] between 1661 and 1666.1 He gained the rank of Captain in February 1660/61 in the Regiment of Foot.1 He succeeded as the 6th Baron le Power and Coroghmore, co. Waterford [I., 1535] in 1661/62.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] between 1667 and 1679.1 He held the office of Colonel of Foot in 1670.1 He was created 1st Earl of Tyrone [Ireland] on 9 October 1672.1 He was created 1st Viscount Decies [Ireland] on 9 October 1672.2 In 1679 he was charged with treason.2 His marriage to Katherine FitzGerald was annulled.2 In 1681 gained his discharge.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] in 1686.2 In 1690 he took part in the defence of Cork and was afterwards taken prisoner to London.2

Lady Dorothy Annesley is the daughter of Arthur Annesley, 1st Earl of Anglesey and Elizabeth Altham.1 She married Richard Power, 1st Earl of Tyrone, son of John Power, 5th Baron le Power and Coroghmore and Ruth Pypho, in 1654.2
