Cecilia Fotheringham was the daughter of Thomas Fotheringham of Powrie.2 She married Sir David Carmichael, 8th of Balmedie, son of David Carmichael, 7th of Balmedie, Craigpottie and Whelphill and Margaret Myrton, on 26 May 1652.1

David Carmichael was the son of Sir David Carmichael, 8th of Balmedie and Cecilia Fotheringham.2 He married Euphemia Dempster, daughter of James Dempster of Balbougie, on 27 January 1675.1 He died in 1676.1
