     Sir David Carmichael, 8th of Balmedie was born in 1626.1 He is the son of David Carmichael, 7th of Balmedie, Craigpottie and Whelphill and Margaret Myrton.2,1 He married by contract, firstly, Anne Carmichael, daughter of Sir James Carmichael, 1st Lord Carmichael and Agnes Wilkie, on 2 September 1647.3 He married, secondly, Cecilia Fotheringham, daughter of Thomas Fotheringham of Powrie, on 26 May 1652.1
     Sir David Carmichael, 8th of Balmedie was member of the Perthshire Committee for War from 1648 to 1649.4 He was invested as a Knight before 5 March 1648.1 He held the office of Heritable Baillie of Abernethy.1 He was a Commissioner of Excise in 1661.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) in 1663.1
