     Sir Duncan Campbell of Barcaldine, 1st Bt. was born on 3 July 1786.1 He was the son of Alexander Campbell of Barcaldine and Glenure and Mary Campbell.2 He married Elizabeth Dreghorn Dennistoun, daughter of James Dennistoun and Margaret Dreghorn, on 22 February 1815.1 He died on 2 April 1842 at age 55.1
     Sir Duncan Campbell of Barcaldine, 1st Bt. fought in the Battle of Copenhagen.1 He fought in the Walcheran Expedition.1 He fought in the Battle of Talavera on 27 July 1809, as Aide-de-Camp to General Sir Alexander Campbell, Bt.1 He fought in the Peninsular Wars.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 3rd Guards.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Argyllshire.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Argyllshire.1 He was created 1st Baronet Campbell, of Barcaldine, co. Argyll [U.K.] on 30 September 1831.1
