     Major William Edward Delves Broughton was born on 13 August 1879.1 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. William Edward Delves Broughton and Laura Margaret Lawson.1 He married Dorothy Grace Studd, daughter of Edward Fairfax Studd and Evelyn Chichester, on 23 October 1912.1 He died on 20 April 1947 at age 67.1
     Major William Edward Delves Broughton fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches, and was wounded.1 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Royal Artillery.1
