     Alan Colquhoun Duff was born on 20 November 1860 at Dunlugas, Banffshire, Scotland.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. James Duff of Knockleith and Jane Bracken Dunlop.1 He married Bertha Hope Duff, daughter of Garden William Duff, 9th of Hatton and Jean Cook, on 23 August 1888.1 He died on 5 January 1897 at age 36 at Jubbulpore, India.1
     Alan Colquhoun Duff was educated at Fettes College, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.2 He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.2 He was Deputy Commissioner of Jubbulpore between 1893 and 1897.2

     George William Duff-Assheton-Smith was born on 17 May 1848.2 He was the son of Robert George Duff and Mary Astley.2 He married Alice Laura Jones, daughter of Colin Stanhope Jones, on 19 April 1888.2 He died on 22 November 1904 at age 56.2
     George William Duff-Assheton-Smith held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.).1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.).1 He lived at Vaynol, Caernarvonshire, Wales.1 He was baptised with the name of George William Duff.2
