     Alexander Brodie, 1st of Lethen was born in 1587.2 He was the son of David Brodie, 13th of Brodie and Janet Hay.1,2 He married, firstly, Margaret Clerk, daughter of James Clerk.2 He married, secondly, Margaret Grant in 1639.2 He died on 7 November 1672.3
     On 14 March 1634 he bought the estate of Lethen.1,3 In 1643 he bought the estate of Kinloss, Morayshire.3
