     John Blakiston-Houston was born on 11 September 1829.1 He was the son of Richard Bayly Blakiston-Houston and Mary Isabella Houston.1 He married Marian Gertrude Streatfeild, daughter of Richard Shuttleworth Streatfeild, on 16 November 1859.1 He died on 27 February 1920 at age 90.1
     John Blakiston-Houston held the office of High Sheriff of County Down in 1860.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Down.1 He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of County Down.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for North Down between 1898 and 1900.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.).1 He lived at Orangefield, County Down, Ireland.1
