     Sir Thomas Christopher Curwen was born circa 1485 at Workington Hall, Cumberland, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Sir Christopher Curwen and Margaret Bellingham.1 He married, secondly, Florence Wharton, daughter of Thomas Wharton and Agnes Warcop. He married Agnes Strickland, daughter of Sir Walter Strickland and Katherine Neville, circa 1512 at Workington, Cumberland, EnglandG.1 He died in November 1543 at Workington Hall, Cumberland, EnglandG.1

     He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he became a POW in Greece.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Northumberland.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)1 He was a mining engineer.1

     Margaret Clarell was born circa 1397 at Aldwark, Yorkshire, North Riding, EnglandG.1 She is the daughter of Thomas Clarell and Matilda Montgomery.1 She married, secondly, Sir Robert Waterton. She married, firstly, Sir John Fitzwilliam, son of Sir John Fitzwilliam and Eleanor Green.2 She married, thirdly, William Gascoigne, son of William Gascoigne and Joan Wyman, on 7 February 1426 at Aldwark, Yorkshire, North Riding, EnglandG, in a clandestine marriage.3
     Her married name became Fitzwilliam.2 Her married name became Waterton. From 7 February 1426, her married name became Gascoigne.1 She also had three other sons and five daughters by her third husband.3
