Hon. Hew North Dalrymple was born on 27 April 1910.1 He was the son of John James Dalrymple, 12th Earl of Stair and Violet Evelyn Harford.1 He married, firstly, Mildred Helen Egerton, daughter of Hon. Thomas Henry Frederick Egerton and Lady Bertha Anson, on 20 June 1938.1 He married, secondly, Helen M. W. Phillips on 20 January 1983.1 He died on 24 May 2012 at age 102.2
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He fought in the Second World War, in Burma and North Africa, and was wounded twice.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 2nd Battalion, Black Watch (TA.)1 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Ayrshire in 1955.1 He lived in 2003 at Castlehill, Ballantrae, Girvan, Ayrshire, Scotland.1

John James Dalrymple, 12th Earl of Stair was born on 1 February 1879.1 He was the son of John Hew North Gustav Henry Hamilton Dalrymple, 11th Earl of Stair and Susan Harriet Grant-Suttie.2 He married Violet Evelyn Harford, daughter of Colonel Frederick Henry Harford and Florence Helen Isabella Parsons, on 20 October 1904.1 He died on 4 November 1961 at age 82.1
