     William Shand, 2nd of Craigellie was born on 6 January 1740/41 at Banff, Banffshire, Scotland.1 He was the son of James Shand, 1st of Craigellie and Jean Russell.1 He married Helen Ogilvie, daughter of William Ogilvie and Helen Baird, on 19 February 1767 at Banff, Banffshire, Scotland.1
