Sir Robert Barclay of Pierston, 2nd Bt. was born on 21 February 1658.1 He was the son of Sir Robert Barclay of Pierston, 1st Bt. and Catharine Lockhart.1 He married Bethia Baird, daughter of Sir Robert Baird of Saughtonhall, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Fleming.1 He died on 15 August 1717 at age 59 at Pierston, Ayrshire, Scotland.1,2

Sir Robert Barclay of Pierston, 3rd Bt. was baptised on 11 January 1676/77.2 He was the son of Sir Robert Barclay of Pierston, 2nd Bt. and Bethia Baird.1 He died in 1728 at Aachen, Germany, unmarried.1,2
In 1715 he joined the Jacobites, and escaped abroad.1 He succeeded to the title of 3rd Baronet Barclay, of Pierston, co. Ayr [N.S., 1668] before 1717.1 On 22 August 1720 he sold the estate of Pierston.1
