     Elene Douglas was the daughter of William Douglas, 2nd Earl of Angus and Margaret Hay.1 She married, firstly, William Graham, 2nd Lord Graham, son of Patrick Graham, 1st Lord Graham and Christian Erskine, before 1460.1 She married, secondly, Sir James Ogilvy of Airlie, 1st Lord Ogilvy of Airlie, son of Sir John Ogilvy of Lintrathen, before May 1478.2,3 She died after 20 November 1486.3
     Elene Douglas was also known as Helen.3 From before 1460, her married name became Graham. From before May 1478, her married name became Ogilvy. As a result of her marriage, Elene Douglas was styled as Lady Ogilvy of Airlie on 28 April 1491.

     Sir Walter Scott, 4th of Buccleuch was born circa 1549.3 He was the son of Sir William Scott of Kirkurd and Buccleuch, younger and Grizel Bethune.2 A contract for the marriage of Sir Walter Scott, 4th of Buccleuch and Lady Margaret Douglas was signed on 19 June 1568.1 He died on 17 April 1574.4
     Sir Walter Scott, 4th of Buccleuch held the office of Captain of Newark Castle between 1566 and 1579.2 He lived at Branxholme, Roxburghshire, Scotland.3 He lived at Buccleuch, Roxburghshire, Scotland.4

     Francis Stewart, 1st and last Earl of Bothwell was born circa 1563.1 He was the son of John Stewart, 1st Lord Darnley and Lady Jean Hepburn.1 He married Lady Margaret Douglas, daughter of David Douglas, 7th Earl of Angus and Margaret Hamilton, before 1 July 1592.1 He died on 4 November 1613, died in exile.1,2
     Francis Stewart, 1st and last Earl of Bothwell also went by the nick-name of 'Wizard Earl'. He succeeded to the title of 2nd Lord Darnley [S., 1562] circa November 1563.2 He was created 1st Lord Hailes [Scotland] on 16 June 1581.1 He was created 1st Earl of Bothwell [Scotland] on 16 June 1581.1 He held the office of Lord High Admiral [Scotland] between 1583 and 1591.1 He was a commissioner to treat with England in 1586.1 He held the office of Governor of the Realm in 1589, jointly.1 On 2 June 1591 he was imprisoned after being accused of witchcraft.1 On 22 June 1591 he escaped.1 On 25 June 1591 he was forfeited.1 On 27 December 1591 he attempted to seize the King at Holyrood.1 On 17 July 1593 he again attempted to seize the King at Falkland.1 On 21 July 1593 he was attainted by Act of Parliament.1 On 3 April 1594 he appeared with 500 horse, achieved nothing, and then fled to England, and on to France, Spain and Italy.1
