     Catherine Herries was the daughter of William Herries, 3rd Lord Herries of Terregles and Catherine Kennedy.2 She married, firstly, Sir Alexander Stewart of Garlies, younger, son of Sir Alexander Stewart, 5th of Garlies and Margaret Dunbar.1 She married, secondly, Uchtred McDowall of Mundork.2 She died on 8 February 1592/93.2
     Her married name became McDowall.2 Her married name became Stewart.1

     William Herries, 3rd Lord Herries of Terregles was the son of Andrew Herries, 2nd Lord Herries of Terregles and Nichola Home.1 He married Catherine Kennedy, daughter of James Kennedy of Blairquhan.1 He died on 26 September 1543, without male issue.1
     He succeeded as the 3rd Lord Herries of Terregles [S., 1490] on 9 February 1513.1 He held the office of Extraordinary Lord of Session in 1532.1
