     Most Rev. Adam Loftus was born circa 1533.2 He was the son of Edward Loftus.3 He married Jane Purdon, daughter of Adam Purdon, in 1560.2 He died on 5 April 1605.2
     He was Private Chaplain to the Lord Deputy Ireland.2 He held the office of Archbishop of Armagh in January 1562/63.2 He held the office of Archbishop of Dublin in 1567.2 He held the office of Lord Keeper of the Great Seal in 1573.2 He held the office of Lord Chancellor [Ireland] in 1578.2 He held the office of Provost of Trinity College, Dublin before 1594.2 He graduated with a Doctor of Divinity (D.D.)3 He had eight other children.2

Edward Blayney, 1st Lord Blayney, Baron of Monaghan1

     Edward Blayney, 1st Lord Blayney, Baron of Monaghan was the son of David Lloyd Blayney and Elizabeth Jones.2 He married Anne Loftus, daughter of Most Rev. Adam Loftus and Jane Purdon, before 13 June 1605.1 He died on 11 February 1629/30.3 He was buried on 23 February 1629/30 at Monaghan Church, Monaghan, County Monaghan, IrelandG.3 His will (dated 20 October 1627) was proven (by probate) on 12 May 1630.3
     In 1598 he accompanied the Earl of Essex to Ireland, as a Colonel.2 He held the office of Governor of Mount Norris in 1601.2 He was appointed Knight on 29 May 1603 at Dublin Castle, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG.2 He held the office of Seneschal of County Monaghan in 1604.2 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of County Monaghan.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Monaghan between 1613 and 1615.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] in 1615.2 He was created 1st Lord Blayney, Baron of Monaghan, co. Monaghan [Ireland] on 29 July 1621.2

     Sir Henry Colley was the son of Sir Henry Colley and Anne Loftus.1 He married Anne Peyton, daughter of Christopher Peyton and Anne Palmer, after 1616.1,2 He died in 1637.1
     He was also known as Henry Cowley.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Monaghan in 1613.1 He was appointed Knight in 1615.1 He lived at Castle Carbery, County Kildare, IrelandG.1

     Anne Peyton was the daughter of Christopher Peyton and Anne Palmer.1,2 She married, firstly, Sir Richard Cooke.1 She married, secondly, Sir Henry Colley, son of Sir Henry Colley and Anne Loftus, after 1616.1,3
     She was also known as Elizabeth Peyton.2 Her married name became Cooke.1 From after 1616, her married name became Colley.1
