     Sir James Stuart Coats, 3rd Bt. was born on 13 April 1894.1 He was the son of Sir Stuart Auchincloss Coats, 2nd Bt. and Jane Muir Greenlees.2 He married Lady Amy Gwendoline Gordon-Lennox, daughter of Charles Henry Gordon-Lennox, 8th Duke of Richmond and Hilda Madeline Brassey, on 11 December 1917.1 He died on 26 October 1966 at age 72.1
     He was educated at Downside School, Bath, Somerset, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded and mentioned in despatches.1 He was educated at Magdalen College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1918.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Coldstream Guards.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Coats, of Auchendrane, Ayrshire [U.K., 1905] on 15 July 1959.1

     Lady Amy Gwendoline Gordon-Lennox was born on 5 May 1894.1 She was the daughter of Charles Henry Gordon-Lennox, 8th Duke of Richmond and Hilda Madeline Brassey.1,2 She married Sir James Stuart Coats, 3rd Bt., son of Sir Stuart Auchincloss Coats, 2nd Bt. and Jane Muir Greenlees, on 11 December 1917.2 She died on 27 April 1975 at age 80.1
     Her married name became Coats.
