     Sir James Murray of Philiphaugh, younger was the son of Sir John Murray, 1st of Philiphaugh and Janet Scott.2,1 He married Anne Craig, daughter of Lewis Craig, Lord Wrightslands and Beatrice Chyrnesyde.1 He died before 1640.1

     Janet Murray is the daughter of Sir James Murray of Philiphaugh, younger and Anne Craig.2 She married James Scott, 2nd of Gala, son of Hugh Scott, 1st of Gala and Jean Hoppringle, in 1646.1
     From 1646, her married name became Scott.

     Hugh Scott, 3rd of Gala was born in 1648.1 He was the son of James Scott, 2nd of Gala and Janet Murray.2 He married Isobel Ker, daughter of Sir Thomas Ker of Cavers, circa 1670.1 He died circa 1696.1
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Selkirkshire.1
