Desmond Maurice Ulick Charles Macartney-Filgate was born on 11 October 1899.1 He was the son of Charles Alexander Hume Macartney-Filgate and Mary Stuart Griffiths.2 He died on 11 May 1918 at age 18, killed in flying training when his engine quit.1
