     Lt.-Gen. John Conyers D'Arcy was born on 12 February 1894.2 He was the son of Most Rev. Charles Frederick D'Arcy and Harriet Le Byrtt Lewis.2 He married Noel Patricia Wakefield, daughter of Edward Wakefield and Frances Conolly, on 29 May 1920.3 He died on 1 February 1966 at age 71.2
     He gained the rank of officer in 1914 in the Royal Horse Artillery.2 He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded twice.2 He was commissioned in 1914, in the service of the Royal Field Artillery.2 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1918.2 He fought in the North-West Frontier between 1930 and 1931, where he was wounded.2 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.2 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1942.2 He was commander of the 9th Army Division between 1942 and 1944.2 He was General Officer Commanding of the Palestine between 1944 and 1946.2 He lived at Hyde Park, County Westmeath, IrelandG.2
