     Sir John Pender was born on 10 September 1816.¹ He was the son of James Pender and Marion Mason.¹ He married, firstly, Marion Cearns, daughter of James Cearns, on 28 November 1840.² He married, secondly, Emma Denison, daughter of Henry Denison, on 12 June 1851.² He died on 7 July 1896 at age 79.¹
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Totnes between 1865 and 1866.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Wick between 1872 and 1885.² He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Lancashire.² He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Lancashire.² He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of St. Michael and St. George (G.C.M.G.)²

     Marion Cearns was the daughter of James Cearns.¹ She married Sir John Pender, son of James Pender and Marion Mason, on 28 November 1840.² She died on 16 December 1841.¹
     From 28 November 1840, her married name became Pender.

     James Cearns lived at Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.²

     Emma Denison was the daughter of Henry Denison.¹ She married Sir John Pender, son of James Pender and Marion Mason, on 12 June 1851.² She died on 8 July 1890.¹
