     Sir Henry Courtenay, 1st and last Marquess of Exeter was born circa 1496.1 He was the son of William Courtenay, 1st Earl of Devon and Catherine Plantagenet.2 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Grey, Baroness Lisle, daughter of John Grey, 2nd Viscount Lisle and Lady Marcella Howard, after June 1515.1 He married, secondly, Gertrude Blount, daughter of William Blount, 4th Baron Mountjoy and Elizabeth Say, on 25 October 1519.2 He died on 9 January 1538/39 at Tower Hill, The City, London, EnglandG, beheaded for treasonous correspondence with Cardinal Pole.3,2
     He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Devon [E., 1511] on 9 June 1511.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1520.2 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1521.2 He held the office of High Steward of the Duchy of Cornwall in 1523.2 He held the office of Warden of the Stannaries in 1523.2 He held the office of Constable of Windsor Castle in 1525.2 He was created 1st Marquess of Exeter [England] on 18 June 1525.2 He held the office of Lieutenant of the Order of the GArter in 1528.2 He held the office of Seneschal of the Duchy of Cornwall in June 1528.2 In 1536 he helped to put down the Pilgramage of Grace.2 All of his honours were forfeited.2

     Margaret Courtenay was born circa 1499.2 She was the daughter of William Courtenay, 1st Earl of Devon and Catherine Plantagenet.1 She married Henry Somerset, 2nd Earl of Worcester, son of Charles Somerset, 1st Earl of Worcester and Elizabeth Herbert, Baroness Herbert, circa 15 June 1514, with a Papal dispensation.1 She died before 15 April 1526, without issue.1
     From circa 15 June 1514, her married name became Somerset.

She was the daughter of Edward Grey, 1st Viscount Lisle and Elizabeth Talbot, Baroness Lisle.1 She married, firstly, Edmund Dudley, son of John Dudley and Elizabeth Bramshot, between 1500 and 1503.2 She married, secondly, Arthur Plantagenet, 1st Viscount Lisle, son of Edward IV Plantagenet, King of England and Elizabeth Waite, on 12 November 1511.2 She died in 1525/26.3
     She gained the title of 6th Baroness Lisle. From between 1500 and 1503, her married name became Dudley. From 12 November 1511, her married name became Plantagenet.
