He was given the name of Henry Richard Fox at birth.1 He succeeded to the title of 3rd Baron Holland of Foxley, co. Wilts [G.B., 1763] on 26 December 1774.1 He succeeded to the title of 3rd Lord Holland, Baron of Holland [G.B., 1762] on 26 December 1774.1 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 On 18 June 1800 his name was legally changed to Henry Richard Vassall Fox by Royal Licence.1 He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1806.1 He held the office of Lord Privy Seal between 1806 and 1807.1 He held the office of Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster between 1830 and 1834.1 He held the office of Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster between 1835 and 1840.1
