     James Dewar was born on 9 August 1852. He was the son of John Dewar and Jane Gow. He married Helen Mowat Wilson, daughter of George Wilson, on 16 September 1898. He died on 12 May 1922 at age 69.

     John Alexander Dewar, 1st Baron Forteviot was born on 6 June 1856. He was the son of John Dewar and Jane Gow. He married, firstly, Johann Todd on 24 June 1884. He married, secondly, Margaret Elizabeth Holland, daughter of Henry Holland, on 22 March 1905. He died on 23 November 1929 at age 73.
     John Alexander Dewar, 1st Baron Forteviot gained the title of 1st Baron Forteviot.
