     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.2 He was educated at Royal Military College, Woolwich, Kent, EnglandG.2 He gained the rank of Colonel in 1889.2 He gained the rank of Brigadier-General in 1894 in the 3rd Cavalry Brigade.1 He fought in the Boer War.2
