     Sir Robert Gillman Allen Jackson was born on 8 November 1911 at Fitzroy, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.1 He was the son of Archibald Jackson and Kathleen Williams.1 He married, firstly, Una Margaret Dick on 18 October 1937 at St. David's Anglican Cathedral, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia.1 He and Una Margaret Dick were divorced.1 He married, secondly, Barbara Mary Ward, Baroness Jackson of Lodsworth on 16 November 1950 at St. Felix Church, Felixstowe, Suffolk, England.1 He died on 12 January 1991 at age 79 at Roehampton, Wandsworth, London, England.1
     He was given the name of Wilbur Kenneth Jackson at birth.1 In 1937 his name was legally changed to Robert Gillman Allen Jackson by Deed Poll.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1941.1 He was Director-General of the Anglo-American Middle East Supply Centre between 1942 and 1944.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1944.1 He was head of the Department of National Development, Australia in 1950.1 He was appointed Knight in 1956.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.) in 1962.1
