     He was given the name of Edward Lovenden Townsend at birth.² On 10 October 1772 his name was legally changed to Edward Lovenden Loveden by Royal Licence.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Abbingcon between 1783 and 1796.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Shaftsbury between 1802 and 1812.¹

     Margaret Pryse was the daughter of Lewis Pryse and Margaret Ryves.^1,2 She married Lt.-Col. Edward Lovenden Loveden, son of Thomas Townsend and Jane Baker, on 15 July 1773.¹ She died on 30 January 1784.¹
     From 15 July 1773, her married name became Loveden.¹

     Lewis Pryse was born in 1716.² He was the son of Walter Pryse and Mary Sewell.³ He married Margaret Ryves, daughter of Edward Ryves.² He died in 1779.²
