     Sir Andrew Searle Hart was born on 14 March 1811.1 He was the son of Reverend George Vaughan Ledwich Hart and Maria Murray Hume.1 He married Frances MacDougall, daughter of Henry MacDougall and Frances Allman, on 6 August 1840 at Clontarf Parish Church, Clontarf, County Dublin, Ireland.1 He died in 1890.1
     He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.1 He wrote the book An Elementary Treatise on Mechanics, published 1844.1 He was appointed Knight on 25 January 1886.2 He was Vice-Provost at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.2 He lived at Glenalla, Letterkenny, County Donegal, Ireland.3
