     Francis Edward Till was born in July 1875 at Canbury Lodge, Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, England.1 He was the son of Edward Till and Fanny Emily Atkins-Bowyer.1 He died on 14 August 1901 at age 26 at Basfontein, South Africa, killed in action.1
     He was educated between 1889 and 1893 at Wellington College, Wellington, Berkshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 6th Dragoon Gards (Carabiniers).1 He fought in the Boer War.1
