     Rt. Hon. Sir Brian Thomas Neill was born on 2 August 1923.1 He was the son of Sir Thomas Neill and Annie Strachan Bishop.1 He married Sally Margaret Backus, daughter of Sydney Eric Backus, in 1956.1 He died on 24 December 2017 at age 94.2
     He was educated at Highgate School, Highgate, London, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Captain between 1942 and 1946 in the Rifle Brigade.1 He graduated from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1949 entitled to practise as a barrister.1 He was appointed Queen's Counsel (Q.C.) in 1968.1 He held the office of Recorder of the Crown Court between 1972 and 1978.1 He held the office of Bencher of Inner Temple in 1976.1 He held the office of High Court Judge of Queen's Bench Division between 1978 and 1984.1 He held the office of Judge of the Commercial and Admiralty Courts between 1980 and 1984.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1985.1 He held the office of Lord Justice of Appeal between 1985 and 1996.1 He held the office of Justice of Appeal in 1997.1

     Sally Margaret Backus was the daughter of Sydney Eric Backus.1 She married Rt. Hon. Sir Brian Thomas Neill, son of Sir Thomas Neill and Annie Strachan Bishop, in 1956.1 She died on 8 January 2009.2
     From 1956, her married name became Neill.1
