     William Arthur Durnford was born on 12 July 1853 at Eton, Berkshire, England.1 He was the son of Reverend Francis Edward Durnford and Frances Isabella Thompson.1 He married Lucy Zelie de Marmery Villin, daughter of Julius Edward Villin de Marmery and Clara Lucy Riches Aldhouse, on 8 April 1885 at St. Nicholas, Brighton, Sussex, England.1 He died on 3 July 1940 at age 86 at Abingdon, Oxfordshire, England.1
     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1 He was a colliery manager.1
