Penelope Anne Farnaby was the daughter of Major Sir John Farnaby, 4th Bt. and Mary Lennard.1 She married Lt.-Gen. Sir William Cator, son of Joseph Cator and Diana Bertie, on 22 March 1815.1 She died on 6 December 1833.1

Sir John Farnaby Lennard, 1st Bt. was born in 1816.1 He was the son of Lt.-Gen. Sir William Cator and Penelope Anne Farnaby.1 He married, firstly, Laura Golding, daughter of Edward Golding and Frances Bowles, on 19 August 1847.2 He married, secondly, Julia Maria Frances Hallam, daughter of Henry Hallam and Julia Maria Elton, on 19 February 1852.2 He married, thirdly, Isabella Brand, daughter of James Brand, on 11 December 1890.2 He died in 1899.1
He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)2 He was Lieutenant-Colonel of the Kent Militia Artillery.2 He was given the name of John Farnaby Cator at birth.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Artillery.2 He was appointed Fellow, Society of Antiquaries (F.S.A.)2 His name was legally changed to John Farnaby Lennard under the will of Sir Charles Farnaby, 5th Bt., who had succeeded to the Lennard estaes in Kent through his mother.2 He was created 1st Baronet Lennard, of Wickham Court, Kent [U.K.] on 6 May 1880.2
