     Johanna Fleming was born in 1525 at Biggar, Lanarkshire, Scotland.2 She was the daughter of Malcolm Fleming, 3rd Lord Fleming and Janet Stewart.3 She married, firstly, John Livingston, Master of Livingston, son of Alexander Livingston, 5th Lord Livingston and Lady Agnes Douglas, in September 1547.4,2 She married by contract, secondly, John Sandilands, 8th of Calder, son of Sir James Sandilands, 7th of Calder and Mariot Forrester, on 24 May 1560.1 She married, thirdly, David Crawford, 5th of Kerse, son of David Crawford, 4th of Kerse and Catherine Hamilton, before November 1567.4 She died on 19 January 1596.2
     From September 1547, her married name became Livingston.4 From 24 May 1560, her married name became Sandilands.1 From before November 1567, her married name became Craufurd.4

     James Sandilands, 1st Lord Torphichen was the son of Sir James Sandilands, 7th of Calder and Mariot Forrester.2 He married Janet Murray, daughter of William Murray of Polmaise and Touchadam, before 12 September 1560.1 He died on 29 September 1579, without issue.1
     He was appointed Knight, Order of St. John in 1530.1 He was Prior of the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem in 1546.1 He was created 1st Lord Torphichen, of Saint John of Torphichen, West Lothian [Scotland] on 24 January 1563/64, by a regrant to himself and his heirs and assignees of the lands, estates and offices previously attaching to the office of Prior of the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem in Scotland (who had been entitled to a seat in Parliament through holding the feudal barony of Torphichen.)1
