     He gained the rank of Captain in the 6th Battalion, London Regiment.2

     Edwin Tate was born on 22 March 1847.1 He was the son of Sir Henry Tate, 1st Bt. and Jane Wignall.2 He married Mary Edward Guild, daughter of Alexander Guild, on 12 August 1874.1 He died on 14 February 1928 at age 80.1
     He had two other daughters (died in infancy.)1

     Edith Marguerite Tate was born on 17 July 1878.1 She was the daughter of Edwin Tate and Mary Edward Guild.2 She married Frederick William Wignall on 5 September 1901.1 She died on 3 April 1958 at age 79.1
     From 5 September 1901, her married name became Wignall. She was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1918.1
