     Jane Armyne Sheffield was born on 4 March 1937.¹ She is the daughter of John Vincent Sheffield and Anne Margaret Faudel-Phillips.² She married Sir Jocelyn Edward Greville Stevens, son of Major Charles Greville B. Stewart-Stevens and Betty Hulton, on 14 June 1956.¹ She and Sir Jocelyn Edward Greville Stevens were divorced in 1979.¹
     From 14 June 1956, her married name became Stevens. She was Lady-in-Waiting to HRH Princess MArgaret, Countess of Snowdon between 1970 and 2002.¹ She was appointed Lieutenant, Royal Victorian Order (L.V.O.)¹ She lived in 2003 at The Mill House, Sutton Courtenay, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, England.¹

     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.² He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.² He was managing director of the London Evening Stnadard in 1973.² He was managing director of Beaverbrook Newspapers in 1974.² He was Rector and Vice-Provost of the Royal College of Arts between 1984 and 1992.² He was chairman of English Heritage between 1992 and 2000.² He was appointed Commander, Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.) in 1993.¹ He was appointed Knight in 1996.²
