     Lt.-Col. Alastair Gordon Rumbold was born on 28 October 1914.¹ He was the son of William Edwin Rumbold and Elizabeth Gordon Cameron.² He married, firstly, Tania Borzakovsky, daughter of Michael Borzakovsky, on 30 July 1941.¹ He and Tania Borzakovsky were divorced in 1952.¹ He married, secondly, Auriol Cressida Bucknall, daughter of Colonel William Rixon Bucknall and Cressida Mona Browning, on 12 September 1958.¹ He died on 13 December 1992 at age 78 at Yeovil, Somerset, England.^1,3
     He was educated at Wellington College, Crowthorne, Berkshire, England.¹ He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1936.¹ He gained the rank of Palestine Campaign between 1936 and 1939.¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Cameron Highlanders.¹ He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1953.¹
