Brigadier John Balfour Riddell1

     Brigadier John Balfour Riddell was born on 2 May 1880.1 He was the son of Colonel Robert Vansittart Riddell and Louisa Flora Steel Dick.2 He married Margaret Alice Smith, daughter of J. W. Smith, on 6 August 1908.1 He died on 20 February 1960 at age 79.1
     He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, London, England.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded and was mentioned in despatches.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1915.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Field Artillery.1 He gained the rank of GSO(2) in 1916.1 He was awarded the Croix de Guerre Belgian.1

     John l'Estrange Riddell was born on 30 September 1910.1 He was the son of Brigadier John Balfour Riddell and Margaret Alice Smith.2 He married Barbara Agnes Fairgrieve, daughter of M. McC. Fairgrieve, on 4 September 1939.1 He died on 27 December 1984 at age 74 at Wrexham, Denbighshire, Wales.1,3
     He was educated at Oundle School, Oundle, Northamptonshire, England.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Artillery.1 He fought in the Korean War between 1952 and 1953.1 He was AAG, British Commonwealth Forces between 1952 and 1953.1 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)1
