Admiral Hon. Sir Somerset Arthur Gough-Calthorpe1

     Admiral Hon. Sir Somerset Arthur Gough-Calthorpe was born on 23 December 1864 at Chelsea, London, England.2,1 He was the son of Lt.-Gen. Somerset John Gough-Calthorpe, 7th Baron Calthorpe and Eliza Maria Chamier.2 He married Annie Euphemia Dunsmuir, daughter of Robert Dunsmuir and Joan Olive White, in March 1900 at St. George Hanover Square, London, England.2 He died on 27 July 1937 at age 72.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.2 He was Naval Attache to the Maritime Courts between 1902 and 1905.1 He was appointed Commander, Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.) in 1910.1 He was Naval Attache to King George V between 1910 and 1911.1 He was Naval Attache to the Briitsh Embassy at St. Petersburg, Russia.2 He gained the rank of Rear-Admiral between 1912 and 1913 in the 1st Battle Squadron.1 He gained the rank of Rear-Admiral between 1914 and 1916 in the 2nd Cruiser Squadron.1 He held the office of Second Sea Lord in 1916.1 He was Commander-in-Chief of the Mediterranean Fleet between 1917 and 1919.1 He held the office of High Commissioner to Turkey between 1918 and 1919.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of St. Michael and St. George (G.C.M.G.) in 1919.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) in 1922.1 He gained the rank of Admiral of the Fleet.1 He lived at Woodlands Vale, Ryde, Isle of Wight, England.1
