     Sir Richard George Douglas Powell, 3rd Bt. was born on 14 November 1909.1 He was the son of Sir Douglas Powell, 2nd Bt. and Albinia Mariel Powell.2 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Josephine McMullen, daughter of Lt.-Col. Osmond Robert McMullen, on 23 February 1933.1 He married, secondly, Alice Maria den Bode, daughter of Wilhelmus den Bode, in 1980.2 He died on 16 July 1980 at age 70.2
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Powell, of Wimpole Street, London [U.K., 1897] on 28 February 1932.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Welsh Guards.1 He was director of Bovis Holdings Limited and Bovis Limited.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1944 and bar (1945.)1 He was Assitant Military Attaché between 1946 and 1948 at Brussels.1 He was awarded the Belgian Croix Militaire in 1947 1st Class.1 He was director-general of IOD between 1954 and 1974.1 He was deputy chairman of the Committee on Invisible Exports between 1968 and 1976.1 He was director of Russell Garratt between 1974 and 1980.1
