     John Dawson, 2nd Earl of Portarlington was born on 26 February 1781.1 He was the son of John Dawson, 1st Earl of Portarlington and Lady Caroline Stuart.1 He died on 28 December 1845 at age 64, unmarried.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1798 in the 20th (East Devon) Foot.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Portarlington, in the Queen's County [I., 1785] on 25 November 1798.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Lord Dawson, Baron Dawson of Dawson's Court, in the Queen's County [I., 1770] on 25 November 1798.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Viscount Carlow, co.      Captain Hon. Henry Dawson-Damer was born on 19 July 1786.1 He was the son of John Dawson, 1st Earl of Portarlington and Lady Caroline Stuart.1 He married Eliza Moriarty, daughter of Captain Edmund Joshua Moriarty and Lady Lucy Luttrell, on 20 May 1813.1 He died on 27 May 1841 at age 54.1
     He was given the name of Henry Dawson at birth.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.1 On 14 March 1829 his name was legally changed to Henry Dawson-Damer by Royal Licence.1 He lived at Milton Abbey, Dorset, England.1
