     Brigadier Claude Nicholson was born on 2 July 1898.2 He was the son of Richard Francis Nicholson and Helen Violet Portal.2 He married Hon. Ursula Katharine Hanbury-Tracy, daughter of Major Hon. Algernon Henry Charles Hanbury-Tracy and Frederica Sylvia Darley, on 31 December 1935.2 He died between 26 June 1943 and 27 June 1943 at Germany, while a POW.2
     He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.2 He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1940, when he became a POW at the defence of Calais.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 16th/5th Lancers.2 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1
