Sir John Ashton Wentworth Roskill was born on 1 January 1902 at 33a Montagu Square, London, England.2 He was the son of John Henry Roskill and Sybil Mary Wentworth Dilke.2 He married, secondly, Phyllis Sydney Burney, daughter of Sydney Burney, on 24 November 1965.2 He married Violet Hester Willoughby Waddington, daughter of Lt.-Col. Charles Willoughby Waddington and Ethel Caroline Stocker, on 29 July 1932 at Brampton, Huntingdonshire, England.3 He died on 23 June 1991 at age 89 at Newbury Dalecare, Stockcross, Newbury, Berkshire, England.2
