Sir Henry Savile was born on 30 November 1549.1 He was the son of Henry Savile and Elizabeth Ramsden. He married Margaret Dacres, daughter of George Dacres.1 He died on 19 February 1621/22 at age 72, without surviving male issue.1
He tutored Queen Elizabeth I in Greek.1 He was the Warden at Merton College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He was educated in 1568 at Brasenose College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He was founder of the Savilian Chairs of Astronomy and Geometry Oxford.1 He was Envoy to Low Countries.1 He was the Provost in 1596 at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He was invested as a Knight in 1604.1
