     He was Justice of the Peace (J.P.).¹ He was Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.).¹ He was educated Rugby and Oriel College Oxford.¹ In 1919 on inheriting the Leny estate from his cousin John Hamilton-Buchanan.¹
