     Major Robert Christopher Thoroton Hildyard was born on 7 November 1912.2 He married, firstly, Robin Stephanie Spicer, daughter of Robert Henry Scanes Spicer, on 15 October 1953.2 He and Robin Stephanie Spicer were divorced.2 He married, secondly, Jennifer Caswell Cornelius, daughter of Leonard Raymond Cornelius and Betty Kathleen Caswell, in October 1983 at York, Yorkshire, England.2 He died in 1986 at Yorkshire, England.2
     He was educated at Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, England.2 He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Artillery.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)1
