     Charlotte Lavinia Hill was born on 6 April 1828 at Ewhurst Park, Basingstoke, Hampshire, England.2 She was the daughter of Maj.-Gen. Dudley St. Leger Hill and Caroline Drury Hunter.3,2 She was baptised on 3 February 1831 at West Molesey, Surrey, England.2 She married Colonel Daniel Roger Lionel Mackinnon, son of William Alexander Mackinnon of Mackinnon and Emma Palmer, on 12 August 1847 at Lyme Regis, Dorset, England.2 She died on 14 December 1902 at age 74 at Maidstone, Kent, England.2
      From 12 August 1847, her married name became Mackinnon.2
