Chief of the Clan Gregor.1 His marriage was no doubt the reason why the Campbells advanced him to the chiefship.1 He lived at Glenstrae, Scotland.1 He held the position of Chieftain of the Clan Dugall Ciar from.1 Circa 1467 the Gaelic manuscript implies that Iain Dubh had another brother Patrick, father of Malcolm, and it has been suggested that they were 3rd and 4th Chiefs of Clan Gregor and held Glenorchy, that Malcolm died c1432 and so Glenorchy fell vacant to the Campbells. But if so, it is strange that their deaths and burials in Dysart were not recorded in the Chronicle of Fortingall.1 In 1523 in the Menzies Chief complained that Mac Gregor was of ‘far greater power' than the Menzieses and was withholding Rannoch from them by force.1
