Ranald Gallda Macdonald was the son of Allan Macdonald, 4th of Clanranald and Moidart and Agnes Fraser.2 He died on 15 July 1544, slain by his nephew, Ian Muiderteach Macdonald, 8th of Clanranald.1
As lawful heir, he usurped the position of his nephew Ian Muiderteach 8th of Clanranald, by whom he was slain spl, at the battle of Loch Lochy, Blar Leine, (see below.)1

Catherine Mackintosh is the daughter of Lachlan Mackintosh of Gellovie.2 She married Ranald 'Bane' Macdonald, 5th of Clanranald and Moidart, son of Allan Macdonald, 4th of Clanranald and Moidart and Florence Macdonald.1
From 1509, her married name became Macdonald.

Dugall Macranald Macdonald, 6th of Clanranald and Moidart was the son of Ranald 'Bane' Macdonald, 5th of Clanranald and Moidart and Catherine Mackintosh.2 He died in 1520 at Polnish, Lochailort, Scotland, assasinated by Alan nan Corc.2
His cruelty against his clansmen so exasperated them that they assassinated him, and formally excluded his sons from the succession.2 Three different authorities give different wives.1
