     Sir Thomas William Holderness, 1st Bt. was born on 11 June 1849.1 He married Lucy Elsmie, daughter of George Robert Elsmie and Elizabeth Spears, on 14 March 1885.1 He died on 16 September 1924 at age 75.1
     He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.1 He graduated from University College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1872 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was in the Indian Civil Service between 1873 and 1901.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Star of India (C.S.I.) in 1898.1 He was Secretary of Revenue and Statistics Department, India Office in 1901.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Star of India (K.C.S.I.) in 1907.1 He held the office of Permanent Under-Secretary, India Office between 1912 and 1919.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1914.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) in 1917.1 He was created 1st Baronet Holderness, of Tadworth, co. Surrey [U.K.] on 16 February 1920.1 He was , with a daughter (Helen Alice, married 5 April 1913 Lieutenant-Colonel Sir (Charles) Max Page, KBE, CB, DSO, MB, MS, FRGC, FRCS, Royal Army Medical Corps (died 1963), on 16 September 1924.1

George Robert Elsmie1

     George Robert Elsmie was born on 31 October 1838 at Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.2 He was the son of George Elsmie and Anne Shepherd.2 He married Elizabeth Spears, daughter of Thomas Spears, on 27 October 1861 at Southampton, Hampshire, England.2 He died on 26 March 1909 at age 70 at Torquay, Devon, England.2
     He was educated at Marischal College, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.2 He was educated at Haileybury College, Haileybury, Hertfordshire, England.2 He held the office of Judge of the Punjab Chief Court in 1878.2 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Star of India (C.S.I.)1

     Sir Ernest William Elsmie Holderness, 2nd Bt. was born on 13 March 1890.1 He was the son of Sir Thomas William Holderness, 1st Bt. and Lucy Elsmie.2 He married Emily Carleton McQuade, daughter of Arthur Frederick Hale McQuade, on 7 January 1926.1 He died on 23 August 1968 at age 78.1
     He was educated at Radley College, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Corpus Christi College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1920 entitled to practise as a barrister.1 He was Assistant Secretary, Home Office.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Holderness, of Tadworth, co. Surrey [U.K., 1920] on 16 September 1924.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1950.1

     From 7 January 1926, her married name became Holderness.

     He was educated at Dauntsey's School, West Lavington, Wiltshire, EnglandG.2 He graduated from Corpus Christi College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He was with the Overseas Civil Service, North Rhodesia between 1955 and 1965.2 He was an estate agent with Whitehead and Whitehead between 1967 and 1986 at Bognor Regis, Sussex, England.2 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Holderness, of Tadworth, co.      She graduated from Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG, with a Bachelor of Medicine (M.B.)1 She graduated from Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG, in 1954 with a Bachelor of Surgery (Ch.B.)1 She was appointed Fellow, Faculty of Anaesthetists, Royal College of Surgeons of England (F.F.A.R.C.S.) in 1959.1 From 1 May 1965, her married name became Southwood. She was a consultant anaesthetist at United Bristol Hospitals, Bristol, England.1 She lived in 2003 at 1 Aldwick Avenue, Bognor Regis, Sussex, EnglandG.1
