Andrew Macdowall is the son of Thomas Macdowall, 4th of Garochloyne and unknown daughter Wallace.2
He was ancestor of the Macdowalls of Elrig.1 On 26 April 1467 Elrig and other lands were resigned by his brother Uchtred after the latter had sold them to Andrew Macomell then repurchased them accompanied by a charter of alienation by Patrick Macdowall of Logan as ratified by King James III.1
