     He was educated at Stowe School, Buckingham, Buckinghamshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Trinity College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He was admitted to the Royal Company of Archers on 18 November 1930.1 He fought in the Second World War between 1940 and 1945, in France and North Africa, and was mentioned in despatches.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) for Peebles-shire in 1954.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Intelligence Corps.1 He lived at Dawyck, Peebles-shire, ScotlandG.1
